The Junta of Andalucía has held an open day for agricultural organisations and agri-food cooperatives in Málaga. The territorial delegate for Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Laura Soto, highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue with these sectors to tackle challenges such as the upcoming reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
During the event, the delegate met with representatives from ASAJA, COAG and UPA, where she emphasised the need for a CAP that is robust and has a guaranteed budget, respecting territorial particularities.
Results of the day
Laura Soto positively assessed the development of this day, describing it as a complete success, with the participation of 15 technicians from agricultural organisations. Attendees were able to learn firsthand about the procedures and competencies managed by the Territorial Delegation of Agriculture in Málaga.
The day addressed relevant topics, such as the management of CAP aid, agro-environmental interventions, organic production, and administrative procedures related to agricultural and livestock farms.
Importance of the agricultural sector
Soto reminded that agriculture, livestock farming, and the food industry are strategic sectors for the community, highlighting that producers in Málaga meet the requirements set by the European Union in environmental, labour, and health matters.
Finally, the delegate thanked the work of agricultural organisations in providing advice to their members, which is essential for improving the services offered by the Ministry.
