The Councillor for Employment, Business and Self-Employment of Andalusia, Rocío Blanco, attended the 'Speed Dating SAP' event in Málaga, where she highlighted the role of Public Administrations as a link between companies seeking staff and unemployed individuals.
At this event, 12 major companies in the sector conducted interviews with nearly 150 candidates certified in the use of SAP technologies, facilitating the formalisation of some hires.
Importance of Training in Employment
Blanco emphasised the usefulness of job training as a crucial tool for entering the job market. She acknowledged the great potential that the tech sector offers to professionals, mentioning that nearly 100% job placement is achieved for those certified in these skills.
Moreover, she highlighted that the Information and Communication sector has grown significantly in Andalusia, with a 39% increase in its gross added value between 2021 and 2025. This sector accounts for almost 11% of the total in Spain, and Andalusia is now the third region in terms of employment in the digital field.
Challenges and Future of the SAP Sector
Rocío Blanco advocated for continuing to promote training in SAP technology. According to a report by Experis, the average time to fill a position in this sector is currently 59 days in Spain, compared to 36 days in Ireland and 51 in Portugal. The councillor deemed it necessary to shorten this period to improve employability in this area.
