The Málaga City Council joins LGTBI+ Pride Day by highlighting the values of Freedom, Unity and Love, which are the names of three streets in the city. The initiative reflects the municipal commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The Málaga City Council has issued an institutional message on the occasion of LGTBI+ Pride Day, emphasising three concepts that, in addition to being street names in the city, represent the pillars of an open society: Freedom, Unity and Love. The communication, disseminated through the council's social media, underscores that these terms transcend their status as mere urban designations to become symbols of the inclusive Málaga that is being built.

The choice of these words is not coincidental. In the Málaga street map, there are streets dedicated to Freedom, Unity and Love, which the City Council now uses as an emblem of its commitment to sexual and gender diversity. The institutional message asserts that the freedom to be oneself, the union between people of different orientations and identities, and love in all its forms are fundamental values for coexistence.

The initiative is part of the international celebration of Pride, which commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969 every June 28, a milestone in the fight for LGTBI+ rights. Since then, this date has established itself as a space for visibility, advocacy, and celebration of the identity of millions of people worldwide.

Freedom, Unity and Love: values that build Málaga

Málaga has made significant progress in recent years in inclusion policies, with initiatives such as the creation of a specific Diversity department and the promotion of cultural and educational activities around respect for difference. The fact that street names like Freedom, Unity and Love are part of the urban landscape is a testament to a city model that aspires to be a benchmark in coexistence.

The City Council encourages citizens to participate in events organised by local LGTBI+ associations throughout June, which include talks, exhibitions, and recreational activities. June 28 is a moment to reflect on the achievements made and the challenges that still lie ahead in terms of equal rights.

With this gesture, the Málaga council reaffirms its position in favour of a society where diversity is not an exception, but a celebrated and protected norm. The values of freedom, unity, and love thus become the foundations upon which a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive community is built for all its inhabitants.
