According to Diario Sur, the location of the suspect's vehicle and its owner was resolved overnight following a swift investigation by the officers.
The suspect, who resides outside the Alhaurín municipality, is being investigated for his alleged responsibility in a traffic safety offence and another for leaving the scene of the accident. Upon being located, the man expressed his willingness to cooperate and justified his flight by claiming he panicked after the impact. The car had a broken front windshield.
The Local Police have summoned him to give a statement next week and to complete the vehicle inspection before forwarding the proceedings to the court on duty. The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall has highlighted the police force's promptness in resolving the case.
Regarding the victims' condition, the 15-year-old who was riding the scooter suffered the worst injuries and was evacuated by ambulance with a possible hip fracture. The 12-year-old, who was riding in the back, was practically uninjured and provided the patrols with a physical description of the driver and details of the car that helped direct the investigation. Both are recovering well.
This incident raises the number of accidents involving minors in the province of Málaga to four within a 24-hour period. On the same Wednesday morning, the driver who hit a 12-year-old boy on his way to school in Torremolinos was intercepted at Málaga airport just before taking off for Manchester. These incidents also include the collision of a British 8-year-old boy by a bus in Benalmádena and the striking of a 4-year-old by a commuter train in Montemar Alto.
