The municipal council on September 11 approved the Climate Change Plan and awarded three Local Police officers. The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall reduced payment to suppliers to 9.67 days and closed the second quarter with a surplus of 4.8 million.
The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall held an ordinary council meeting on September 11 where the Municipal Climate Change Plan was approved, a document required by the Junta de Andalucía, and the good financial situation of the council was reported. The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, along with the councillors for Finance, Luis Miguel Molina, and Environment, Teresa Sánchez, presented the session's balance on Friday.
The climate plan will allow for the planning of infrastructures and actions to reduce the impact of torrential rains, heatwaves, and wildfires, as well as to improve biodiversity. The Environment councillor explained that eight reviews have been carried out since 2024 to adapt the document to the municipality's reality, studying runoff basins and green areas that could serve as climate refuges. Investments will focus on the drinking water network, both urban and rural, and on reducing damage from runoff in the fairgrounds, the Coín road, and El Cigarral.
“Projects that the Town Hall already had underway and that today already have funding from the council itself, funding from European Funds, funding from the Government of Spain, and we hope, since we have this municipal plan approved, that the Junta de Andalucía can also launch its line of aid and we can apply for it,” indicated Teresa Sánchez.
In the economic section, the Finance councillor reported that the average payment period to suppliers stands at 9.67 days, the third-best historical record and an improvement of 20 days compared to the first quarter, when it was 29.26 days. During the second quarter, around 1,000 invoices were paid for a total of 3,200,000 euros.
As of June 30, 2026, recognised income amounts to 21,800,000 euros and expenses to 17 million euros, resulting in a surplus of 4.8 million euros. The mayor highlighted that this situation “is the result of efficient, serious, and brave economic management, which allows us to face the future with confidence, continue investing to transform our municipality, and at the same time, offer trust and security to the companies and suppliers that work with our Town Hall.”
The council also unanimously approved awarding decorations to three Local Police officers for their professional trajectory and meritorious actions. The mayor expressed his “sincere congratulations and gratitude for their commitment and dedication” on behalf of the entire community. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 4, during the celebration of the patron saint of the Local Police.
