The Town Hall of Alhaurín el Grande has added a hybrid vehicle with a defibrillator and real-time access to the DGT to the police fleet. It is the first new car for the Headquarters in about 12 years.
The Local Police of Alhaurín el Grande now has a state-of-the-art hybrid vehicle. The Town Hall has incorporated it into the force's fleet with technological and medical equipment to improve the agents' response.
The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, the chief of the Local Police, Pablo Rengel, and councillors Luis Miguel Molina, Macarena Herrera, and Elisa Rueda attended the car's reception, along with agents from the force.
Among the vehicle's features is a defibrillator that will allow agents to act as first responders in the event of a cardiac arrest before medical services arrive. Rengel explained it this way:
“In the event of a cardiac arrest, when we arrive at the scene as first responders, we will be able to use the defibrillator and, while waiting for medical and health services to arrive, provide immediate assistance.”
The car also includes a tablet connected in real-time to the systems of the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT). Agents will be able to check documentation, insurance, ITV, or driving permits, among other data, during checks or interventions.
The chief of the Local Police pointed out that this tool represents a significant advancement in daily work, as “until today we depended on other agencies for checks during a control or an accident.”
The mayor recalled that it had been approximately 12 years since a new vehicle was acquired for the Headquarters. “We are delighted, and it also responds to the effort made in the last three years to modernise the equipment of the Local Police,” declared Bermúdez.
This modernisation process includes the launch of a drone unit and the incorporation of new IT and technological equipment.
The arrival of the vehicle adds to the reinforcement of the workforce initiated in 2023. Three new agents, currently in training, will soon join, and the Town Hall plans new competitions next year with the aim of reaching a workforce of 30 agents.
With this addition, the Local Police now has five patrol cars and two motorcycles, one of which is designated for the canine unit.
The mayor reiterated that the Town Hall will continue to provide the force with human, material, and technological resources to serve the residents of Alhaurín el Grande.
