EMVIPSA officially approves its new temporary employment pools, which incorporate four professional categories and reorganise others. The process began in March and culminates after three working sessions.
The municipal company EMVIPSA has definitively approved its new Temporary Employment Pools on 26 August, a structural change that incorporates four professional categories not previously considered and reorganises existing ones. The decision concludes a process initiated on 12 March to update the lists used by the company to meet its temporary staffing needs.
The process required three working sessions, held on 24 March, 30 April, and 19 May, before reaching final approval. According to the municipal company, requests made by unions and various political groups were taken into account during these five months of development.
The main novelty is the creation of pools for Electricity Officer, Early Childhood Education Teacher, Administrative Officer, and Coordinator of the Home Help Service (SAD). For this last profile, EMVIPSA requires a specific qualification of Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
The introduction of this category related to SAD is particularly significant due to the importance this service has gained within the public company. The delegated councillor of EMVIPSA and first deputy mayor, Jesús Pérez Atencia (GIPMTM), described it as "one of the services with the greatest social importance" in the municipality, aimed at the elderly, dependents, and families requiring daily support.
"The growth in demand is being accompanied by an increase in resources and our capacity to provide the service"
The latest data released by EMVIPSA reflects this surge: as of 24 August, the SAD had 2,176 users and 1,015 active assistants, compared to 1,438 beneficiaries and 609 assistants in August 2024. The company estimates user growth at over 51% in just two years.
The organisation of less specialised positions is also changing. Until now, support workers were separated by specialty; with the new structure, they will move to a single pool under the designation of General Worker, simplifying classification. The exception will be the staff assigned to the coast: the category of Beach Cleaner/Worker remains independent, with its own pool.
EMVIPSA concludes the administrative reorganisation of its pools, a process that has been carried out, according to the company, in compliance with the Transparency Law and Data Protection. The opening dates for submitting applications, the number of members in each pool, scoring criteria, and the duration of the lists have yet to be specified; these aspects will be established in the corresponding calls and bases when published.
For residents of Vélez-Málaga interested in temporary work with the municipal company, the next step will be in those bases, which will determine how to access the new profiles. The creation of the SAD coordinator pool, in particular, opens a pathway for social workers in a service that is expanding rapidly.
