The City Council of Antequera announces the completion of the second phase of the works, with a total investment of around €590,000 and the road now open to traffic.
The Calle Pasillas in Antequera now showcases its new look. The mayor, Manolo Barón, and the deputy mayor in charge of Works and Maintenance, Teresa Molina, have visited the road following the completion of the second phase of the comprehensive renovation, which finalises the renewal of the approximately 150 metres in length of this street in the historic centre.
This last phase has involved work on approximately 75 metres of the street and has entailed an investment of around €300,000. Adding the first phase, the total cost of the project is around €590,000.
The works, which began in mid-January, have lasted for six and a half months and were completed in the last weeks of August. During its execution, between 60 and 70 jobs were created for skilled workers and labourers.
The renovation has created a fully accessible single platform, with concrete paving and granite sidewalks, improving pedestrian traffic and the urban quality of the surroundings.
Barón highlighted the road's role as a connection between different areas of the city, as it is one of the main accesses to the Las Peñuelas area, linking areas such as San Miguel, Portichuelo, and the San Juan neighbourhood.
“We are creating accessible, comfortable streets with good flooring and non-slip surfaces, while maintaining that unique Antequeran style typical of the streets in our historic centre,” the mayor stated.
With this second phase, Calle Pasillas is now fully operational and open to traffic as normal, preserving the traditional aesthetics of a road integrated into the historic centre of Antequera.
