The Torrox Town Hall tenders the second phase of the Santa Rosa sports complex in El Morche for 4.4 million. The work will complete the facility inaugurated in November 2025 and will total an investment close to ten million.
The Torrox Town Hall has put out to tender the second phase of the Santa Rosa sports and leisure complex in El Morche for 4.4 million euros, one of the largest municipal investments on the coast in recent years. The new contract will complete facilities whose first phase cost 5.5 million, bringing the total expenditure to around 9.9 million.
The project will continue the facility that partially opened in November 2025, when the new Antonio González football pitch was inaugurated, following over three decades of community demands to replace the old facilities located on public maritime-terrestrial land. The land had already been used since September by the lower categories of the Club Recreativo El Morche.
The second phase includes finishing the stands and changing rooms of the pitch, the commercial building, a restaurant, and the underground parking whose structures were erected in the first stage. New multi-sports courts, green areas, pedestrian pathways, and a running lane will also be constructed.
The project adds a new internal road that will connect CEIP Los Llanos and IES Alfaguar with the Santa Rosa and Laguna Beach developments. The mayor, Óscar Medina (PP), has described the tender as "a decisive step to complete one of the great historical transformations that the coast and the entire municipality are experiencing."
"Turning historical demands into projects, projects into works, and works into new opportunities for our residents," the mayor defended.
The first phase, with an investment of 5.5 million, included the artificial turf pitch, the underground parking, and the structures for future changing rooms, commercial area, and courts. The complex spans over two and a half hectares of land from the Cortijo Sevilla.
When the pitch was inaugurated, the Town Hall estimated the second phase at around 4.5 million; the tender is now set at 4.4 million. The City Council had already indicated that this part would be funded with its own resources after failing to secure European funding.
The Councillor for Sports, José Manuel Fernández (PP), emphasised that the new works aim to make "sport not just an activity but also a space for coexistence, meeting, and healthy living." The councillor believes that the Antonio González pitch "has already demonstrated what it means to have a dignified sports facility," and now the goal is to complete the rest of the complex.
The deputy mayor of El Morche, José Luis Ruiz (PP), has linked the project to the urban transformation of the coast: "It means much more than completing some facilities," he stated, and will create spaces for families and respond to historical demands.
Interested companies can obtain the tender documents until September 16 at 14:00 and submit bids until 23:59 on the 21st. The opening of the administrative documentation is scheduled for September 29 and the opening of the economic proposals for October 6.
