The Home Help Service in Vélez-Málaga now serves 2,176 users, a 51% increase compared to two years ago. EMVIPSA has strengthened its staff with 406 assistants and is nearing 92,300 hours of annual care.
The Home Help Service (SAD) managed by EMVIPSA in Vélez-Málaga has reached 2,176 users as of 24 August 2026, according to data presented this Tuesday by the first deputy mayor and delegated councillor of the municipal company, Jesús Pérez Atencia.
This figure represents an increase of 51% compared to August 2024, when the service had 1,438 users. In August 2025, there were 1,744, meaning that in just two years, 738 new beneficiaries have been added.
“We are talking about one of the services with the greatest social importance in our municipality, as it directly reaches our elderly, dependent individuals, and families who need support in their daily lives,” Pérez Atencia noted.
The growth in demand has been accompanied by an increase in staff. EMVIPSA currently has 1,015 assistants on duty, compared to 609 in August 2024, representing 406 more professionals and an increase of nearly 67%. Of these, 763 have fixed users assigned.
Care hours have also seen a significant rise. The hours increased from 56,668 hours in August 2024 to 69,100 in August 2025, reaching 92,267 hours currently, almost 63% more than two years ago.
Since January 2026, the SAD has incorporated a palliative care service that serves 38 users. The home hairdressing service has also grown: between January and August 2026, 1,452 services have been provided, compared to 1,366 in the same period of 2025, with 600 in just the last three months.
“More users, more assistants, and more hours of care demonstrate the scale that the Home Help Service is acquiring in Vélez-Málaga,” the councillor explained.
Pérez Atencia emphasised the role of the SAD as a job creator and stated that EMVIPSA will continue to work on modernising the service and adapting it to the needs of the residents.
