The Santo Chiquito venue will host the livestock event of the Royal San Miguel Fair on Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 to 19:00. The Tack Competition by the Equestrian Club will bring an equestrian atmosphere to the centre on Friday.
The Santo Chiquito venue will host the traditional Livestock Fair of the Royal San Miguel Fair over two days: Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 to 19:00. This event revives one of the spaces most linked to the livestock and equestrian tradition of the municipality.
The Councillor for Agriculture, Jesús María Claros, has pointed out that the Livestock Fair is part of the history of the celebration in Vélez.
“San Miguel is a Fair that has grown and evolved over the years, but there are elements that are part of its essence and that we want to continue to care for. The world of livestock and horses is one of them.”
The Councillor for Popular Traditions, Lourdes Piña, has noted that these activities allow new generations to learn about a part of local history.
“The Livestock Fair and everything surrounding the world of horses is a very special part of San Miguel.”
On Friday, October 2, the Vélez-Málaga Equestrian Club will hold the Tack Competition at Paseo Andalucía and calle Axarquía, from 13:30 to 19:00. The competition awards prizes in five categories: best dressed rider, best dressed female rider, best dressed pair, best child rider or female rider, and best turnout.
The vice president of the Equestrian Club, Paloma Lavado, explained the aim of the competition.
“We want to give prominence to the horse and to the people who work and enjoy this hobby throughout the year.”
Registration to participate can be done on the same day, between 15:00 and 16:30, at the designated location for the activity. The prizes are 50 euros and a trophy for the first place, two bags of feed for the second, and one bag of feed for the third.
