The Municipal Pool of Nerja is preparing to host one of the most anticipated sporting events of the summer in the province next Friday, August 7. The town will welcome the Grand Final of the 40th Provincial Swimming Circuit, a competition organised by the Provincial Council of Malaga in collaboration with the Andalusian Swimming Federation.
A total of 180 swimmers from the municipalities of Álora, Archidona, Benalmádena, Campillos, Estepona, and Nerja itself will gather at the municipal facilities to compete for the titles at stake. The scheduled events include distances of 25, 50, and 100 metres freestyle, divided by categories, as well as the 4×25 and 4×50 relays in male, female, and mixed formats.
The local representation will be provided by the Municipal Swimming School of Nerja, which will be present with a delegation of 35 swimmers. The young athletes from Nerja approach this event with the hope of competing for the top spots in the rankings, reaching the podium, and improving their personal bests after a season of hard work and dedication.
The Councillor for Sports of the Nerja Town Council, Daniel Rivas, has highlighted the importance of the municipality once again being the host of such a well-established competition. “For Nerja, it is a true pride to be the venue for the grand final of a circuit that reaches its 40th edition, established as one of the most important swimming promotion competitions in the province,” he stated.
“Hosting this event is a recognition of the municipality's commitment to grassroots sports and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits among the youth,” Daniel Rivas emphasised.
The competition will begin at 10:00 hours at the Municipal Pool of Nerja. The day promises to be an opportunity to enjoy the sporting atmosphere and a morning where effort, overcoming challenges, and camaraderie will be the main themes.
The Nerja Town Council has expressed gratitude to the Provincial Council of Malaga and the Andalusian Swimming Federation for their trust in the municipality to host this final. They also acknowledged the technicians, volunteers, and families who make the success of the competition possible.
This 40th edition of the provincial circuit reinforces Nerja's role as a benchmark in promoting grassroots swimming in the province of Malaga. The event not only serves as a showcase for local young talents but also boosts sports in the Axarquía region.
For swimming enthusiasts and the families of participants, Friday's event will offer an intense morning of competition in a privileged setting. The facilities of the Municipal Pool of Nerja will open their doors to welcome the 180 swimmers and all the spectators who wish to cheer on the athletes.
The celebration of this final coincides with the summer period, making the event a healthy leisure alternative for both residents and visitors currently in the town. Admission will be free until the capacity of the facilities is reached.
With the holding of this grand final, Nerja concludes an intense sporting summer and will already look towards the next edition of the circuit, which promises to maintain the competitive level and participation of the Malaga municipalities in the future.
