The Sports Area of Antequera opens registrations this Thursday, August 27, for children's swimming and therapeutic swimming courses for the 2026/2027 season, which will start on September 1.
The City Council of Antequera, through the Sports Area, is all set for the start of the municipal sports season 2026/2027, which will begin on September 1 with a programme designed for all ages.
The deputy mayor in charge of Sports, Juan Rosas, has announced the activities that require prior registration, many of which have limited places. The first opportunity will be this Thursday, August 27 at 10:00 AM, when registrations will open, both online and in person, for the children's swimming courses at the Municipal Covered Pool.
These courses, which will run from September to June, are aimed at children from babies up to 15 years. The offer includes groups for babies aged 0 to 2 years, children aged 3 to 5 years, beginners aged 6 to 9 years, and children's swimming for ages 10 to 15.
Families can choose between two weekly sessions (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) for 20 euros a month, or one weekly session on Fridays or Saturdays for 10 euros a month. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the groups are full.
From 11:00 AM on that same Thursday, registrations for therapeutic and preventive swimming, also known as back school, will open. This activity, one of the most in demand, is aimed at the treatment and prevention of injuries, lumbar pathologies, spinal deviations, and chronic or degenerative processes.
Due to the high demand from previous seasons, the Sports Area has doubled the groups and maintains a wide offer both in the morning and in the afternoon. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with time slots between 09:30 and 12:00 PM and between 5:00 and 9:30 PM. The monthly fee is 26 euros.
On September 1, programming for adults will also begin, with more than 110 weekly directed classes, Weight Room, Free Swimming, and Box Zone for functional training. The Weight Room will open from 07:00 AM, and in this case, there is no single registration date: subscriptions can be formalised throughout the month.
For older adults, there are free alternatives. The Health Walking programme will start on September 1, from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 09:00 AM. Additionally, during the first half of September, free intensive swimming courses for those over 65 will be offered at the Covered Pool, with registrations already open.
“Doing sports not only helps improve our health but also allows us to have fun, socialise, and ultimately improve our quality of life,” said Juan Rosas.
The Sports Area will announce in the coming days the rest of the proposals that will complete the programme for the 2026/2027 course.
