Torremolinos, from Primera RFEF, defeated Sevilla 1-0 in a friendly match held behind closed doors at the Cisneros Palacios sports complex. The only goal of the match was scored by Miguel Sierra from the penalty spot.

The Torremolinos surprised on Wednesday by beating 1-0 against Sevilla in a friendly match played behind closed doors at the Cisneros Palacios sports complex. The home team, competing in Primera RFEF, seized their opportunity to take down a top-flight rival in a match that offered little for fans, but enough for the Torremolinos side to leave with a positive feeling ahead of pre-season.

A penalty goal decides the match

The match, which served as preparation for both teams, was resolved at the start of the second half. It was Miguel Sierra who converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Jesús Cruz, putting the final score at 1-0. The goal scorer, who played five matches with Torremolinos' first team last season, demonstrated his accuracy from the spot.

Torremolinos managed to maintain their lead for the rest of the match, with a solid defence that prevented any attempts from Sevilla to come back. The home team, led by Luis García Plaza, showed good tactical organisation and knew how to endure when Sevilla pressed in the final minutes.

Sevilla lacking bite and featuring many youth players

The Seville team, which is still in preparation for the upcoming season, did not have several of their regular players. Two of the players who have been training under García Plaza for a week, Nigerian forward Akor Adams and left-back Joaquín Martínez 'Oso', did not play due to ongoing negotiations for their transfers to Venezia FC and AC Fiorentina in Italy.

The first half was particularly weak for Sevilla, who barely created any danger. Their standout player was youth player Manuel Ángel, who was responsible for the only two shots from his team in the first 45 minutes: a weak header straight to the goalkeeper and a penalty shot, after a pass from Suazo, that was too wide. Sevilla appeared more incisive upon returning from the break, with the introduction of several youth players who injected energy into the team, but they failed to beat the home goalkeeper.

New Sevilla signings make their debut

In this match, Senegalese defender Arouna Sangante and midfielder Jon Guridi made their debuts for Sevilla, playing the first minutes with their new team. The third summer signing, right-back Juan Iglesias, came on in the second half. Despite the defeat, coach García Plaza positively assessed the opportunity to see his new players in action.

The goal scorer, Miguel Sierra, left Ibra Sow one-on-one with the goalkeeper on two occasions, but the Senegalese forward was not accurate: he shot high with a lob in the first instance and collided with goalkeeper Cuenca in the second. Torremolinos, on the other hand, made the most of their chances and secured a victory that will undoubtedly boost the team's morale for the upcoming season.

For Torremolinos fans, this result is a source of pride: seeing their team compete toe-to-toe against a historic top-flight team and come away with the victory. Torremolinos' next commitment will be on Saturday against Atlético de Madrid in another friendly, while Sevilla will continue their pre-season with a match against Betis next week.
