The Local Police of Torremolinos arrested on Wednesday the alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run of a 12-year-old that occurred on Tuesday on Francisco de Jorge Gallardo street. The suspect was intercepted at Málaga airport before boarding a flight to Manchester.
The Local Police of Torremolinos arrested on Wednesday the alleged driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run of a 12-year-old recorded on Tuesday on Francisco de Jorge Gallardo street, after the car fled the scene.
The investigation began immediately and allowed the identification of the vehicle, which belonged to a rental company. With that information, the agents tracked the car and its user to Málaga airport, where they confirmed that the suspect was scheduled to take a flight to Manchester on Wednesday.
The Local Police relayed the information to the National Police, whose agents located the suspect and made him disembark from the plane before it took off. Subsequently, officers from the Local Police of Torremolinos proceeded to arrest him as the alleged responsible for the incident and took him to police facilities.
The arrested individual remains at the Local Police Headquarters of Torremolinos awaiting his judicial presentation.
The hit-and-run occurred on the morning of Tuesday, 15 September, when the minor was heading to his school. As a result of the impact, he suffered a skull fracture and was taken to Materno Infantil Hospital in Málaga, where he remains hospitalized.
The Town Hall of Torremolinos has stated that the swift action of the Local Police and coordination with the National Police allowed for the suspect to be located and arrested just a day after the incident.
