The CIEDES Foundation Mayors' Forum has presented a supramunicipal social housing map for 22 municipalities and a financial plan of €3.389 billion for hydraulic infrastructures in Málaga.
The Mayors' Forum driven by the CIEDES Foundation has met again at the Málaga Trade Fair Palace, during the Greencities Urban Intelligence and Smart Mobility event, as reported by Diario Sur. The event, now in its third year, brought together 19 mayors from the metropolitan area with the aim of turning municipal alliances into concrete projects.
The meeting was chaired by the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre; the provincial delegate for Housing, Youth, Land Planning, Promotion and Mobility, María Rosa Morales; and the president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado. Mayors from Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Benalmádena, Cártama, Casabermeja, Casarabonela, Casares, Coín, Colmenar, Comares, Istán, Málaga, Mijas, Nerja, Pizarra, Rincón de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Vélez-Málaga and Villanueva de la Concepción attended.
Regarding housing, the metropolitan commissioner Susana Gómez de Lara and the corresponding provincial delegation are directing the preparation of a Supramunicipal Housing and Land Map for 22 municipalities. This tool will organise the supply of free and protected housing (VPO) in the short, medium, and long term, and will assess existing construction and planning. Six municipalities have already provided complete data. The aim is to channel investments in housing, transport, and facilities, promote public-private partnerships, and seek funding. The final version will be presented at the next SIMED.
In terms of mobility, a project for Park & Ride facilities has been designed along the C2 Cercanías line to enhance intermodality between the Guadalhorce Valley and the capital. The proposal has already been communicated to RENFE and the Junta de Andalucía.
The water commissioner, Jorge Robles, has outlined a financial plan to address water needs, with investments estimated at €3.389 billion (€300 million annually over 10 to 12 years). The proposal includes maximising European funds, organising works of general interest, clarifying administrative competencies, and raising public awareness.
The day included a debate among mayors and CIEDES trustees to establish new projects related to energy, waste, and industry. The Territorial Commission, created after the approval of the Metropolitan Strategic Agenda on 17 March, has so far been led by Joaquín Villanova (mayor of Alhaurín de la Torre) and Ana Mula (mayor of Fuengirola), with a leadership change scheduled for next November.
