The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, has presented the programme and poster for the Mijas Fair, which will take place from September 7 to 12. Camela, Medina Azahara, Marta Quintero, and Alba Dreid will headline the concerts.
The Mijas Fair 2026 now has its dates. It will be held from September 7 to 12, as announced this Thursday by the mayor, Ana Mata, during the presentation of the official programme and poster. The prelude will arrive on the 6th with the opening speech by local journalist Mari Carmen Jaime at the Miguel González Berral auditorium in Mijas Pueblo starting at 21:00 hours.
The mayor highlighted that the programme combines "our traditions with current proposals" and is designed "for family enjoyment". Among the highlights are the concerts of Camela, Medina Azahara, Marta Quintero, and Alba Dreid, which will take place throughout the week.
On the 7th, the festivities will kick off with a parade of giants and big heads at 19:00 hours from the Town Hall, followed by the lighting of the artistic illuminations at 22:00 hours. That same night, the queen, king, ladies, and companions of the Mijas Fair 2026 will be chosen.
The main day, September 8
The central day will be September 8, the feast of the Virgen de la Peña, the patron saint of the municipality. At 11:30 hours, there will be a ringing of bells and a mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and at 21:00 hours, a procession will take place through the streets of Mijas Pueblo. Earlier, at 13:30 hours, the Day Fair will be inaugurated at La Muralla, featuring bars and musical performances.
On September 9, the election of the child king and queen will be held, with a draw at 20:00 hours at the municipal tent. There will also be a children's performance by the 'K-Pop Warriors' and, at 23:00 hours, a concert by Camela with free entry until capacity is reached.
Thursday the 10th will feature Medina Azahara, who will perform at the municipal tent from 00:00 hours. September 11 will be dedicated to the elderly with the traditional Tribute Dinner for Seniors at 22:30 hours, where the Grandfather and Grandmother of the Fair will be chosen by draw. The dinner is free for seniors who register in advance at the Seniors Department and collect their invitation. That night, starting at 23:30 hours, Marta Quintero will perform.
The last day, September 12, will include a bicycle ride at 11:00 hours, followed by the Day Fair at La Muralla. At 18:00 hours, there will be a simulated bull run starting from Cañada de Gertrudis, and an hour later, a horseback ride. The youth night will feature DJs Michael Stiven and Cohelo, along with Alba Dreid.
The official poster for this edition, presented by the mayor, is a "very special and symbolic" composition featuring the kings of last year's fair, Paula González and Víctor Pulpillo, alongside a horse and the hermitage of Our Lady of the Peña in the background. Ana Mata thanked both for their collaboration in illustrating the festivities.
The mayor also wanted to acknowledge the work of all municipal departments, security and emergency services, the brotherhood, and the festival committee, "often silent", to ensure the fair "goes ahead". The complete programme is available on the Mijas Town Hall website.
