The Mijas Town Hall has tendered the drafting of the project to install covers at the sports courts of eleven public schools. The base budget is €96,274.41 and offers can be submitted until 14 August.
The Mijas Town Hall has green-lighted the tender for the basic and execution project for the installation of covers in the sports areas of eleven public schools in the municipality. This was announced on Wednesday by the mayor, Ana Mata, and the Education councillor, Juan José Torres, who emphasised that this is a long-standing demand from the educational community.
The action, which will affect centres spread throughout the municipality, aims to improve the thermal conditions of the sports courts for both students during school hours and for residents who use them outside of that time. The base tender budget amounts to €96,274.41 and the execution period, once awarded, will be 90 calendar days.
According to the terms of reference, each court has different dimensions, although all are municipal property. To select the spaces, a meeting was held with the directors of the affected schools. The project must include a foundation system, structure, and grounding, with pillars that respect a two-metre obstacle-free protection zone.
The covers will be made of galvanised steel sheet with a finish that includes thermal and acoustic insulation, rainwater collection, electrical installation with LED lighting, and accessibility. The successful bidder will have to carry out the project considering all necessary work for the calculation and design, so that the units of work can be defined for the subsequent contracting and execution of the works.
In the case of the San Sebastián school in Mijas Pueblo, the Town Hall will study another type of intervention due to the technical impossibility of installing a cover in that space. Interested companies have until 14 August to submit their offers.
“This is a very necessary project requested by the educational community of the municipality, so we are now taking an important step to make it a reality. Our priority is our residents, and we work for them every day,” concluded the mayor.
The mayor also recalled the recent agreement signed with the Junta de Andalucía to make use of educational spaces outside of school hours and thus incorporate them into the social, cultural, and sports life of Mijas. The improvement of these facilities will directly benefit students and sports users in the municipality, who will be able to enjoy more comfortable facilities throughout the year.
