The Benalmádena Plenary unanimously approves the initiation of the process to grant the title of Adoptive Daughter to Remedios Herrero Moyano, in recognition of her educational and social career.
The Benalmádena City Council Plenary has unanimously approved, with the votes of PP, PSOE, Vox, and IU, the initiation of the Honors and Distinctions process to grant the title of Adoptive Daughter of Benalmádena to Remedios Herrero Moyano. The initiative, promoted by the governing team, has become an institutional motion after receiving the support of the entire Corporation.
The proposal stems from a request promoted by the civil society of Benalmádena, which has been supported by numerous associations, groups, and institutions in the municipality. These groups requested this public recognition for the extensive career of Herrero Moyano in service to the city.
The Mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, has thanked all municipal groups for their support of an initiative “that arises from the recognition of an entire city to a person who has dedicated her life to improving Benalmádena through education, culture, participation, and public service.”
“Today we take a very important step to recognise a woman who has left an indelible mark on generations of Benalmádena residents. The unanimous support of the entire Corporation demonstrates that there are individuals whose careers transcend any political differences and deserve the recognition of an entire town,” the mayor stated.
Remedios Herrero Moyano has dedicated more than six decades to the educational, cultural, and social development of the municipality. Her career is linked to teaching, educational innovation, cultural promotion, the associative movement, and the culture of peace, as well as her involvement in local public life and numerous civic initiatives.
With the plenary approval, the Honors and Distinctions process officially begins, which will include the merit report, endorsements from associations and citizen groups, and the rest of the supporting documentation, in accordance with the Municipal Regulation. The mayor will act as the instructor of the process.
The recognition of Herrero Moyano represents a gesture of gratitude from the entire community towards a figure who has contributed to shaping the identity of Benalmádena. The distinction will take effect once the administrative process is completed, following the established procedures.
