La Cala de Mijas celebrates this Sunday, September 27, the fifth edition of the Triathlon Villa de Mijas, with 250 participants from 48 federated clubs. The event starts at 9:00 hours at El Torreón beach and is expected to finish at 13:00.

La Cala de Mijas will host this Sunday, September 27, the fifth edition of the Triathlon Villa de Mijas, an Olympic distance event without drafting that will bring together 250 athletes from 48 federated clubs, as reported by the Councillor for Sports, Mª Francisca Alarcón, and the event organiser, Diego Pino. The competition will kick off at 9:00 hours from El Torreón beach and is scheduled to conclude at 13:00 hours with the general cut-off.

The increase in places compared to previous editions is due to high demand, according to the organisers. The triathlon is organised by CP Mijas Triatlón in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Mijas, which is responsible for logistics, setting up the finish arch, delimiting barriers, and security with the Local Police. Mijas Comunicación will broadcast the event live.

The course will begin with 1,500 metres of swimming at El Torreón. Afterwards, participants will cover 40 kilometres by bicycle between El Torreón and Entrerríos, on a two-lap course. The event will conclude with 10 kilometres of running along the Senda Litoral, also in two laps from El Torreón to the municipal boundary, finishing again at El Torreón.

The celebration of the triathlon will cause traffic disruptions between El Torreón and Entrerríos from 9:00 to 12:00 hours, during the cycling segment. The affected streets will be Benarrabá, Torremolinos, bulevar de La Cala, avenida Limonar, avenida Sierra Morena, avenida Mare Nostrum, the road from La Cala to Entrerríos, and the path of the dispersed area of Entrerríos up to the hostel.
