The boulevard of La Cala de Mijas hosts until September the travelling exhibition celebrating 400 years of the history of the Consular Corps in Málaga, featuring 40 posters that review its trajectory.
This week, the boulevard of La Cala de Mijas welcomes the travelling exhibition '400 Years of the History of the Consular Corps in Málaga 1641-2026', a display with around 40 posters that recount the milestones and episodes of this institution, which has been attending to and protecting citizens from other countries residing in the province for four centuries.
The supports that hold the panels have already been installed along the promenade of La Cala, where the exhibition will remain visible until next September. The exhibition has already passed through Málaga city, Marbella, and Torremolinos before arriving at the Mijas coastline.
The birth of the Consular Corps of Málaga was closely linked to maritime trade and navigation, as well as the need to protect the interests of merchants, shipowners, and travellers in foreign ports, as noted by the entity itself. Currently, 52 consuls are accredited in the province of Málaga.
The dean of the Consular Corps of Málaga, José Luis Ramos, has highlighted that the initiative "aims to raise awareness of the trajectory of an institution that has contributed for four centuries to dialogue between countries and the international projection of the province."
The exhibition arrives in Mijas during the peak season, so both residents and visitors will be able to discover the history of one of the oldest diplomatic institutions in the province during their walks along the boulevard of La Cala. Additionally, the Consular Corps of Málaga offers cultural and tourist information about the province on its website, which it encourages people to explore.
