Real Betis Balompié is finalising the details of its 2026/27 preseason, which will include a training camp in Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, from July 27 to August 1. There, they will face Olympique de Lyon in La Línea de la Concepción.
Real Betis Balompié already has the work plan on the table to prepare for the 2026/27 season, the one for their return to the Champions League. The verdiblanco expedition, led by Manuel Pellegrini, will travel through Germany, Seville, Marbella, and Ireland before the official competition begins. The team started medical check-ups on July 7 and 8 at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol, and this Wednesday, July 8, they will head to Germany.
First Stop: Germany to Escape the Sevilla Heat
The squad will concentrate at the Hotel-Residence Klosterpforte, in North Rhine-Westphalia, where they will seek a more pleasant climate for the initial training sessions. Among those present will be Álvaro Valles, Pau López, Bellerín, Bartra, Llorente, Natan, Marc Roca, Fornals, Deossa, Roro Riquelme, and Isco, along with Guilherme, Petit, Losada, and several youth players. Initially, five key players will not travel: Lo Celso, Cucho, Fidalgo, Abde, and Antony; the latter will join at the end of the week.
The German stage will conclude on July 18 with a friendly against SF Lotte from the German Oberliga. On the same day, the expedition will return to Seville to continue their preparations.
Marbella, the Major Showcase of Betis' Preseason
After a few days in the Andalusian capital, where the team will compete in the Trofeo Colombino against Recreativo de Huelva (July 22) and the Trofeo Ciudad de Granada against Granada CF (July 25), the time for the concentration on the Costa del Sol will arrive. From July 27 to August 1, Betis will settle in Marbella, a regular destination for elite teams seeking top-notch facilities and good weather.
During this stay, Pellegrini's team will face their first high-level test: they will compete against Olympique de Lyon on July 29 at the municipal stadium of La Línea de la Concepción. This match will serve to assess the team's fitness against a European-level opponent.
Betis' presence in Marbella is not only good news for local fans, who will be able to closely follow their team, but also for the region's sports tourism. The Costa del Sol is establishing itself as a preseason venue for top clubs, and Betis' stay generates significant economic and media impact.
Final Stop in Ireland and Return to Seville
After the concentration in Marbella, the team will enjoy a day of rest before heading to Ireland, where they will complete the final leg of the preseason. There, they will face yet-to-be-confirmed opponents, serving as the prelude to the start of the league competition, scheduled for mid-August.
Betis, returning to the top continental competition after several seasons, aims with this planning to arrive in optimal physical and tactical condition. Meanwhile, the fans dream of seeing their team compete among Europe's elite. And in the process, enjoy a football summer that passes through the Costa del Sol.
