The Plenary of the Marbella City Council approves a budget modification of 7.23 million from the treasury surplus to act on road safety, cleaning, energy efficiency, and sports facilities. The extraordinary session was held at the Trapiche Guadaiza Cultural Centre.
The Plenary of the Marbella City Council approved on Monday a budget modification of 7.23 million euros from the treasury surplus to finance sustainable investments in various areas of the municipality. The extraordinary session took place at the Trapiche Guadaiza Cultural Centre.
The Councillor for Finance, Félix Romero, explained that the actions respond to needs identified by technical services and residents, and will improve quality of life and modernise local infrastructures.
Among the approved initiatives is the comprehensive regeneration of the pavement of several streets in the municipality, which will renew the road structure and extend its lifespan. A new phase of the coastal path in the Alicate area will also be executed, the flooring of the Antonio Serrano Lima Pavilion will be renewed, and the restrooms in the Constitution Park will be renovated.
In energy efficiency, the City Council will modernise public lighting to reduce consumption and enhance safety. In San Pedro Alcántara, a new clean point will be created and Los Romeros street will be remodelled. Additionally, pressure washers and containers will be acquired to strengthen the cleaning service in response to population and tourism growth.
The Plenary also approved a second modification of 146,000 euros: 131,000 euros for the modified project of the metal roof of the outdoor court of the Carlos Cabezas Pavilion and the remainder for commitments related to the rehabilitation project of the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Fairs and Congresses.
Previously, the session acknowledged the resignation of Councillor Manuel Cardeña as the municipal representative in the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, and Félix Romero was appointed as the new representative of Marbella in that body.
