Las Palmas has landed in the province of Málaga to carry out its traditional summer training camp, an event that has been repeated for over a decade. This time, the team led by Rubén De la Barrera has chosen the Marbella Football Center as their training venue, where they will remain until next Friday after starting their stay on July 20.
The Canary expedition consists of 33 footballers, including Jefté, who joined later, and a total of 58 people, including coaching staff, medical team, security personnel, communication department members, and executives like Luis Helguera and vice president Nicolás Ortega, who travel occasionally.
To ensure comfort during the 12 days of preparation, the club has reserved around 40 hotel rooms. Additionally, the distance from their sports city in Las Palmas has necessitated the transport of a support van with approximately 2,500 kilos of sports and medical equipment, a significant logistical deployment for a team that has the ocean as a geographical barrier.
This training camp allows the Second Division team to refine tactical and physical details that are impossible to work on with the same depth during the regular calendar. The good weather and facilities in Marbella make the Costa del Sol a recurring destination for clubs from all over Spain, which take advantage of the area's hotel and sports infrastructure.
The presence of Las Palmas in Marbella also has an economic impact on the locality, with dozens of rooms occupied and local services used for almost two weeks. The Canary club is one of several teams that choose the Málaga province for their summer preparations.
