Portuguese chef João Silva, with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, joins as the new Executive Chef of Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club to lead its culinary proposal based on local produce.
Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club has hired Portuguese chef João Silva as the new Executive Chef, a move that reinforces its commitment to gastronomic excellence and local produce on the Costa del Sol. Silva, who has over a decade of experience in international fine dining, takes on the culinary direction of the entire complex, including the hotel's restaurants and the Amù Beach Club.
The chef, currently based in Marbella, arrives after a career in some of the most prestigious kitchens in Europe. He has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants such as Cocina Hermanos Torres, Lasarte, and Akelarre in Spain, and was part of the team at Maison Pic alongside Anne-Sophie Pic, the chef with the most Michelin stars in the world. Prior to this appointment, Silva was Senior Sous Chef at Gaia Marbella, where he led a team of over 30 professionals, and later Head Chef at Erre Asador Marbella, a restaurant that received recognition in the Michelin Guide during his tenure.
His culinary philosophy combines Mediterranean cuisine with the highest quality local ingredients and contemporary techniques. In his new role, he will oversee the entire gastronomic offering of the resort, aligned with the 'slow luxury' concept that characterises the establishment. Silva explained that the Mediterranean has always been a source of inspiration for him and that his goal is to tell the story of the region through gastronomy, combining respect for local produce with creativity and technique.
The General Manager of Gran Marbella Resort, Jeroen Nettekoven, highlighted that great hotels are defined by the memorable experiences they offer, and exceptional gastronomy is central to them. He stated that Silva's vision and commitment to quality perfectly reflect the resort's values. Nettekoven was one of the recent additions to the management team, alongside Lumy de María as Sales and Marketing Director and Mariola Carbajo as Hotel Director.
This appointment is part of the resort's strategy to establish itself as a benchmark for luxury lifestyle hospitality in Marbella. The establishment, which is the latest opening in the portfolio of Iconic Hotels & Resorts, aims to enhance its dining proposal with professionals who have international experience and a strong connection to the local environment. Guests at Gran Marbella Resort will be able to enjoy Silva's creations in the coming months, when he is expected to unveil his new menu based on local produce.
