Manilva finalises an agreement with Red Cross to expedite emergency response

The Town Hall of Manilva and Red Cross are advancing an agreement to directly activate the organisation's resources in emergencies. The meeting, held this week, lays the groundwork for the future agreement.

The Town Hall of Manilva has taken another step in its civil protection strategy by holding a working meeting with Red Cross officials to finalise a collaboration agreement. The mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the councillor for Health, Juan Carlos Morejón, welcomed representatives of the humanitarian organisation to define the terms of the agreement, which will allow the Town Hall to directly activate Red Cross resources when circumstances require.

Participants in the meeting included Cristina Fité, head of the Basic Emergency Response Team at the provincial level; Lope Javier Núñez, from the Red Cross Emergency Team in Estepona; and Ana Belén González Jiménez, Local Management Technician of the Regional Assembly in Estepona. The presence of these profiles highlights the organisation's involvement in the municipality and its immediate surroundings.

The future agreement will establish a framework for collaboration that will cover various areas of action. Among the services contemplated are the promotion of social welfare and assistance services, the prevention and repair of damage from disasters or public calamities, cooperation in health prevention programmes, and the exercise of social and humanitarian functions. The goal is to provide a quicker and more organised response to any emergency situation that may arise in Manilva.

The Town Hall emphasises that this initiative represents a step forward in coordination with Red Cross, an entity with extensive experience in emergency management and support for vulnerable groups. Once signed, the agreement will allow the Town Hall to mobilise human and material resources without the usual procedures, which can make a difference in critical situations.

For the residents of Manilva, this agreement translates into a greater capacity to respond to events such as floods, fires, or health emergencies, as well as a reinforcement of the social programmes already being developed by the organisation in the region.
