The Veleña district will celebrate its festivities from August 6 to 9 with Iberia Sumergida, La Banda del Capitán Inhumano and Bernárdez (The Refrescos) as the main musical attractions.

The Veleña district of Chilches has already set its programme for the 2026 Fair, which will take place from August 6 to 9 in honour of the Immaculate Conception and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. La Banda del Capitán Inhumano, Bernárdez (from The Refrescos) and Iberia Sumergida head a lineup that will combine concerts with the most traditional events of the locality.

The pre-fair dedicated to the elderly will kick off the festivities on Wednesday, August 5, with a dinner and musical performances in the Plaza de la Constitución. This event reaches its fourth edition since the Deputy Mayor's Office revived it after years without being held.

The opening day, Thursday, August 6, will be designed for the little ones with children's games, ribbon races, sack races and piñatas. During the four days, the fairgrounds will maintain a quiet hour from 20:30 to 21:30 to promote an accessible and inclusive space.

Friday, August 7, will be marked by religious events: mass at 20:00 and a procession through the streets of Chilches accompanied by the San Gabriel Music Band from El Borge. After the procession, José Manuel González Madrid will deliver the opening speech, followed by the election of the Queen, Honourable Ladies and Mister. The night will close with a tribute to Héroes del Silencio by Iberia Sumergida.

Saturday, August 8, will feature the popular moraga, with tastings of sardines, gazpacho and ajoblanco prepared by the Women’s Association of Chilches. The paella competition on the seafront and performances by A-Compás and Miguel 'El Botana' will complete the afternoon, while the night will host concerts by La Banda del Capitán Inhumano and Bernárdez, before closing with Los Electroduendes.

The final day, Sunday, August 9, will start with the daytime fair and performances by the dance groups Sweetdreams and Susana A.J. Zumba. The street band 'Y Quiénes Somos' and Nahuel and Darío will liven up the afternoon, and after the award ceremony for the competitions, Malamanera will provide music for the final stretch with a concert scheduled for 01:00, before the definitive closure by A-Compás.

The Deputy Mayor of Chilches, Rocío Ruiz, has highlighted that there will be “four intense days, with moments to enjoy with family, friends and neighbours.” She also praised the presence of Iberia Sumergida and the groups that will allow “the revival of some of the great hits of Spanish pop and rock that have marked several generations.”

For her part, the Councillor for Popular Traditions, Lourdes Piña, emphasized that the Chilches Fair “is much more than a programme of activities; it is a meeting point for neighbours, families and visitors that each year keeps our traditions alive and strengthens coexistence.”

This event, which attracts hundreds of visitors to this district of Vélez-Málaga every summer, thus maintains its commitment to a programme that combines leisure and tradition for all ages, with the aim of making the festivities a benchmark of the summer calendar in Axarquía.
