The Municipal Music Band of Fuengirola will offer a free concert next Tuesday, July 28, in the Park of Spain, featuring a programme focused on historical military marches. The performance, which will start at 21:30, will be conducted by Alfredo Alarcón Campoy and will feature clarinet soloist María Teresa Padilla Rodríguez.
The repertoire is divided into two parts. The first will kick off with ‘El Abanico’ by Alfredo Javaloyes López, and will continue with pieces such as ‘Florentiner Mars’ by Julius Fučík; ‘Bajo la Doble Águila’ by Josef Franz Wagner; ‘King Cotton’ by John Philip Sousa; and ‘Colonel Bogey March’ by Kenneth J. Alford, known for the soundtrack of the film ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’. This section will conclude with ‘El Sitio de Zaragoza’ by Cristóbal Oudrid Segura, after which there will be an intermission.
The second part will start with ‘Semper Fidelis’ by John Philip Sousa, and will continue with ‘Arnhem’ by Albert E. Kelly, and ‘Ganando Barlovento’ by Ramón Sáenz de Adana. The audience will also hear ‘En marcha al cine’, a medley arranged by Larry Clark that brings together military-themed soundtracks, as well as ‘1941’ by John Williams. The concert will close with ‘La Banderita’ by Francisco Alonso López.
The Councillor for Culture in Fuengirola, Rodrigo Romero, has highlighted the artistic quality of the ensemble and encouraged both locals and visitors to attend this performance, which is part of the municipality's summer cultural programme. “It is a unique opportunity to enjoy great compositions in an outdoor setting,” he stated.
