The Fuengirola City Council has launched the Asphalt Plan 2026, which will repave over 2,100 linear meters across a dozen roads in Los Boliches, Torreblanca, and Miramar. The investment amounts to €677,008.61 and the work will last for 20 days.
The Fuengirola City Council has commenced work on the Asphalt Plan 2026, a project that will affect a dozen streets spread across neighbourhoods such as Los Boliches, Torreblanca, and Miramar. The information, reported by Diario Sur, details that work has already begun on Avenida Alcalde Clemente Díaz Ruiz, one of the main entrances to the city.
The council is allocating €677,008.61 to this initiative. The works started last week and will continue for the next 20 days. In total, just over 2,100 linear meters will be repaved, which represents an area of 21,970 square meters.
In addition to Avenida Alcalde Clemente Díaz Ruiz, the roads included in the plan are the roundabouts of 600 and Gardenia, in Los Boliches and Torreblanca respectively; the avenues of Las Salinas (a section) and Santa Amalia; and the streets Madroños, Hierbabuena, Enebros, Aragón, Doctor Fleming, Buganvillas, and Las Palmas.
The project also includes repainting horizontal road markings and replacing manhole covers and grates. The mayor, Ana Mula, has explained that such actions are necessary to keep public spaces in good condition:
“For Fuengirola to always look its best, it is not only necessary to carry out comprehensive renovations or new infrastructures, but we must also carry out continuous maintenance of all public spaces. The wear and tear of many of our areas is ongoing, and we must anticipate actions of this magnitude to ensure road safety and the good condition of our roads.”
The mayor added that the aim is to improve both the appearance of the streets and the safety of those who travel on them:
“We continue to work to improve Fuengirola every day, not only the appearance of our streets but, more importantly, the road safety of everyone who travels on them.”
In parallel, the City Council has been carrying out inspection and cleaning tasks of storm drains and collectors since the beginning of the month to prepare the network before the autumn rains. So far in 2026, 1,153 manholes, 11,058 storm drains, and over 46 kilometres of network have been cleaned. The pre-autumn campaign focuses on points identified as critical and areas most prone to surface water accumulation during heavy rain episodes.
