The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow alert for maximum temperatures in parts of the province of Málaga, but Estepona is not included in the warning. This Wednesday, the coastal municipality will record a maximum of 33 degrees and fog in the afternoon.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow alert for maximum temperatures in several areas of the province of Málaga for this Wednesday, but Estepona is exempt from the warning. That does not mean that the heat will relent: the mercury will reach 33 degrees around 5:00 PM, with a feels-like temperature that could reach 35 degrees.

The day will start with mostly clear skies, ideal for an early morning stroll along the promenade before the sun intensifies. However, as the day progresses, fog will make an appearance and will persist throughout the rest of the afternoon. The winds, light and from the south, will barely be noticeable.

A respite ahead of the weekend

For tomorrow, Thursday, the forecast indicates a day with few clouds from the early hours, although the cloud cover will tend to dissipate by midday. Temperatures will rise slightly, with a maximum exceeding 33 degrees, while the minimum will drop to 21 degrees. The wind will blow from the southwest, gentle and steady.

Friday will be another rain-free day, with clear skies and stable temperatures ranging from 19 to 35 degrees. The wind, from the southwest, will remain light. For those planning a weekend getaway, Saturday will bring mostly clear skies, and Sunday will be completely clear. The maximums will stay at 33 degrees and the minimums at 20. The wind, light and from the south, will not pose a problem.

What to expect in the coming days in Estepona

In summary, Estepona will experience a typical July week, with heat but without extremes, at least for now. The yellow alert for high temperatures in other parts of Málaga does not affect the municipality, but it is wise not to let one’s guard down: hydration, sun protection, and avoiding the central hours of the day are advice that is always useful. However, for those who prefer the coolness of the sea breeze, the late afternoon and evening will be the most pleasant time, with the fog softening the atmosphere.

The curious fact: the maximum feels-like temperature of 35 degrees suggests that, although the thermometer does not spike, the body will feel it. The more optimistic will say it is a 'bearable' heat for the season; the less so will argue that air conditioning and shade are summer's best friends on the Costa del Sol.
