The turtle Yellow, from the Sea Life aquarium in Benalmádena, has chosen the plate with the Spanish flag during its prediction ritual, forecasting the victory of the national team in the World Cup final against Argentina.

The turtle Yellow, weighing 110 kilos and about 30 years old, has done it again. This Saturday, at the Sea Life aquarium in Benalmádena, the popular turtle has made its prediction for the World Cup final: Spain will lift the trophy against Argentina.

A ritual with broccoli and flags

The ritual, which has become a tradition for major sporting events at the centre, took place during breakfast time. The caretakers placed two identical plates in front of Yellow, each with the flag of one of the finalist teams and a special treat: two pieces of broccoli, its favourite food.

After a few moments of indecision, the turtle swam calmly in the ocean tank and headed straight for the plate with the Spanish flag. It grabbed the broccoli and, in doing so, indicated the Roja as the winner. Sea Life insists that there is no trickery involved: they always put the same amount of food on both plates.

A perfect record in the tournament

Yellow arrives at the final with a perfect record of five consecutive correct predictions, having anticipated Spain's victories against Uruguay, Austria, Portugal, Belgium, and France. A feat reminiscent of the famous octopus Paul, who correctly predicted 100% of the results for the German team and Spain's victory in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Yellow has become the new viral sensation of the Malaga aquarium.

The little ones eagerly seek it out on every visit. Beyond its predictive abilities, Yellow is one of the major stars of Sea Life Benalmádena. Its graceful swimming in the ocean tank is one of the biggest attractions of the facilities.

The aquarium reminds us that these activities are part of the environmental enrichment for the animals, always respecting their well-being. Thus, the turtle has become an authentic ambassador for the centre.

Will Yellow be right again?

It remains to be seen if it will be correct once more. The answer will come this Sunday. If Spain wins, Yellow will mark its sixth consecutive correct prediction and confirm that no one beats it in the betting world. Meanwhile, visitors to the aquarium can already boast of having met the oracle of the World Cup. The match is at 21:00 hours at the final stadium.
