Nerja has held a solidarity gathering for Ceuta, attended by Mayor José Alberto Armijo and locals. During the event, a manifesto was read demanding the Government to strengthen the border.
The municipality of Nerja hosted a citizens' gathering on Wednesday in support of Ceuta, attended by Mayor José Alberto Armijo, members of the Municipal Corporation, representatives of the Security Forces, social groups, and residents of Nerja and Maro.
During the event, the bond that unites Nerja with Ceuta and Melilla was highlighted, especially through families from both cities who reside in the municipality and are part of Nerja's society.
Pepe Rico, a Nerja resident linked to Melilla and Ceuta, was responsible for reading the manifesto, which conveyed a strong message:
“Ceuta is not alone. Ceuta is and will always be Spain.”The text calls on the Government of Spain to strengthen state resources, ensure security and control of the border, and provide the necessary resources.
For his part, José Alberto Armijo stated that with this gathering, Nerja reaffirms its bonds of solidarity and affection with Ceuta, and emphasized that
“from Nerja, we demand the return of those who entered our country illegally so that Ceuta can regain normalcy.”
