The Málaga communicator Francis Márquez will deliver the opening speech for the Fiestas del Rosario de El Palo this Saturday at 21:15 in the parish of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias. The event will also unveil the poster by the Ronda painter Alejandro Martín Caballero.

The Málaga communicator Francis Márquez will be the one to deliver the opening speech for the Fiestas del Rosario de El Palo this Saturday. The event, as reported by Diario Sur, will take place at 21:15 in the parish of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, where the promotional poster for the festivities, created by the Ronda painter Alejandro Martín Caballero, will also be presented.

Márquez has acknowledged the responsibility that comes with this role and the special affection he feels for El Palo and its church, which he visited with his mother. "As soon as I received the request, I was very excited and accepted," explained the communicator, who approaches this occasion with the desire to give voice to a festival that announces the celebration and the worship of the patroness and protector of this popular neighbourhood, the Virgen del Rosario, whose solemnity is celebrated on October 7.

José López Cano, last year's speaker, will introduce Márquez. He is one of the most recognisable voices in Málaga's cofrade communication, with nearly two decades of bringing the news, history, and concerns of the brotherhoods and cofradías of Málaga, both of passion and glory, to the airwaves.

Currently, he directs and presents two weekly cofrade programmes on Canal Málaga Radio: 'Mundo Cofrade', an interview space he has hosted since 2008, and 'A Pie de Trono', dedicated since 2013 to the current affairs of the letíficas and pasionistas brotherhoods and cofradías. His connection to the cofrade world goes beyond the media: he is a brother of the brotherhoods of Paloma, Mena, Santa María de la Victoria, and Santos Patronos, and is also a member of the Hermandad de la Paloma de Madrid. Since his youth, he has actively participated in various governing boards, especially in protocol tasks, and has been part of different throne teams.

His career as a speaker includes opening speeches such as the one organised by the Agrupación de Hermandades de Gloria, 'Saeta, oración cantada', and those delivered for the Cofradía del Prendimiento, the Hermandad de la Piedad, the Uva y el Mosto de Viñeros, the Hermandad del Descendimiento, and the Cofradía de la Paloma. With this Saturday's opening speech, he will add a new exaltation, a responsibility he faces "with excitement," he emphasised, and with affection for a neighbourhood to which he feels particularly connected.

During the event, the festival poster, created by Alejandro Martín Caballero, will also be unveiled. This Ronda painter studied Fine Arts and Design at the Escuela de Arte de Sevilla, where he specialised in Gilding and Polychromy. He completed his education with studies in Theology at the Facultad de San Isidoro de Sevilla, a discipline that has influenced his artistic language and his conception of painting as a tool for evangelisation and beauty.

Throughout his career, he has created numerous promotional posters for brotherhoods and corporations in Andalucía, including those dedicated to the Patrona de Montoro, the Hermandad del Rocío de Ronda, the Hermandad del Rocío del Rincón de la Victoria, the Semana Santa de Arriate, the Glorias de Ronda, the Virgen del Carmen de San Leandro in Seville, and the 450th anniversary of the Hermandad del Santo Entierro de Ronda. His artistic production extends to mural painting, design, and heritage, with works such as the design of the canopy for the Virgen de la Paloma de Ronda and the mural paintings in the chapel of the Hermanas de la Cruz de Ronda.
