Benalmádena City Council has put out to tender technical assistance for drafting the project for the comprehensive redevelopment and pedestrianisation of streets in the historic centre of Arroyo de la Miel. The contract has a base budget of €685,691.22, VAT included, and companies can submit offers until 13 October.
The Benalmádena City Council has taken a further step in the transformation of the Carranque neighbourhood by tendering technical assistance for drafting the construction project and subsequent management of the works for the comprehensive redevelopment and pedestrianisation of several streets in the historic centre of Arroyo de la Miel. The contract has a base budget of €685,691.22, VAT included, and a maximum period of seven months to draft the projects. Interested companies can submit their offers until 13 October.
This action is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) 2025-2030, funded by European funds that Benalmádena obtained through competitive bidding to promote urban and social regeneration projects. The plan covers the area of Carranque-Carola and Arroyo de la Miel.
The mayor, Juan Antonio Lara, has stated that the City Council will hold meetings with residents, associations, and groups during the drafting of the projects. Prior to the tenders, meetings were already held to gather needs and proposals.
“We want to carry out this project with the residents and not behind their backs. We have already held preliminary meetings and, during the drafting of the projects, we will continue to hold meetings to listen to their opinions and proposals,” Lara declared.
The aim of the redevelopment is to improve accessibility and mobility in an urban layout with narrow streets and sidewalks, to gain space for pedestrians and facilitate access for services and emergency vehicles, especially for the elderly and those with reduced mobility.
The PAI includes other complementary actions. The reorganisation of Mercurio Street and the surrounding area of the Health Centre has an approved project and is preparing for tender, with work expected to start in June 2027. Also included are the tree planting project for Pueblo Sol, the reorganisation and densification of the trees in Parque Jesús Cautivo, and the regeneration of the source of Arroyo de la Miel and Plaza de los Niños, whose project has been awarded and is under review, with works planned for late 2027.
In the social sphere, the plan includes the functional adaptation of the Centro Social Carola III, with a project drafted and in the supervision phase; the tender for the works will begin in early 2027 and will be executed between 2027 and 2028. Additionally, a new Social Hub will be created at the Social Services Centre in Arroyo de la Miel, whose project is also drafted and under supervision, with tendering expected for late 2026 and execution during 2027.
The mayor has emphasised that the PAI combines the transformation of streets and public spaces with the modernisation of social facilities, and includes sports, educational, environmental actions and support for commerce, SMEs, and self-employed individuals.
