The municipality attends the IFTM Top Resa fair in Paris from September 15 to 17, with meetings with French agents and tour operators. This event follows a record August with a hotel occupancy rate of 96.2%, the best figure in the province of Málaga.
Benalmádena participates from this Tuesday, September 15 until September 17 in IFTM Top Resa, one of the main professional meetings of the French tourism sector, held at Paris Porte de Versailles. The Councillor for Tourism, Presi Aguilera, leads the municipal delegation, which will hold meetings with agents, tour operators, and representatives of the sector to strengthen the municipality's position in the French market.
The presence at the fair comes after a record August. Benalmádena recorded a hotel occupancy rate of 96.2%, the highest figure in the province of Málaga, ahead of Torremolinos (95.5%) and Mijas (94.4%), according to the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS). The provincial average was 92.85%.
“We have just closed an extraordinary summer, leading the hotel occupancy in the province with 96.2% in August, results that demonstrate that Benalmádena is a strong, competitive, and very attractive destination for both national and international visitors,” Aguilera stated.
France is the fifth largest international market for the municipality. In July 2026, 2,205 French hotel travellers arrived, a 9.2% increase compared to the same month in 2025, a growth higher than that of the overall foreign tourists, which was 5%. From January to July, there were 17,223 French travellers, compared to 19,238 the previous year, a decline of 10.5% that the councillor hopes to reverse with the summer rebound.
“We need to take advantage of this rebound to regain ground in such an important market as the French one and, above all, work to ensure that Benalmádena is chosen beyond the peak summer months,” Aguilera explained.
During the fair, the City Council will present an offer that goes beyond sun and beach, showcasing the three areas of the municipality (Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel, and Benalmádena Costa), historical heritage, nature, gastronomy, leisure, and family tourism. The new municipal tourist website, This is Benalmádena, already includes content in French for visitors and industry professionals.
The councillor emphasized that international promotion will continue to be one of the priority lines of work to consolidate source markets and advance in de-seasonalisation. The Paris event is part of that municipal strategy.
