The Benalmádena City Council has presented the cultural programme for the last quarter of the year, featuring theatre, cinema, flamenco, exhibitions, and workshops spread across the main venues in the municipality. All activities will be free, although some will require prior registration due to limited capacity.
The Casa de la Cultura in Benalmádena will kick off the new cultural course on 24 September at 20:00 hours with a free performance of 'El soldado fanfarrón', an event coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Alezeia Theatre Association. Tickets can be managed through Entradium.
The Councillor for Culture, Jésica Trujillo, presented the agenda at the Felipe Orlando Pre-Columbian Art Museum. As she explained, the goal is for cultural spaces to have constant activity throughout the quarter.
“We are starting a new cultural course with a broad, diverse programme designed for audiences of all ages. We want our cultural spaces to have constant activity and for residents and visitors to find proposals to enjoy culture throughout the entire quarter.”
Cultural associations in the municipality will play a significant role. Among the scheduled events are the Alezeia Amateur Theatre Festival, bonsai exhibitions and workshops at the beginning of October, and Social Innovation proposals, which will take place in cultural centres, La Paloma park, and other locations in Benalmádena.
The Cineclub will resume its weekly screenings on 1 October, with sessions every Thursday. From 10 to 17 October, a new edition of the Benalmádena International Film Festival will be held, celebrating its 25th anniversary.
In November, the programme includes a commemorative exhibition for the 40th anniversary of the Arroyo-Benalmádena Women's Association on the 6th, and the celebration of the Benalmadense of the Year on the 7th. Flamenco will have its space with the Flamenco Week organised by the Repompa Association around the International Flamenco Day. The life of Félix Solesio will also be portrayed in the square of the La Tribuna building, and the Coral will celebrate its anniversary on 28 November.
The Felipe Orlando Pre-Columbian Art Museum will continue its guided tours on Sundays and will add family visits, workshops on Prehistory, the traditional Altar of the Dead, and a day dedicated to Catrinas on 24 October. The History Centre will offer a workshop on livestock farming in Roman times in September and 'Shuffle the History' in October.
The Exhibition Centre will continue to host the 'String Theory' exhibition, which opened on 11 August and focuses on the design and evolution of string instruments with historical pieces from all five continents, until 18 December.
The municipal libraries, the Public Library Arroyo de la Miel, and the Manuel Altolaguirre Library in Benalmádena Pueblo will complete the agenda with storytelling sessions, reading clubs, Bebeteca, workshops, book presentations, and conferences for different ages.
“We also want to highlight the enormous work carried out by our associations, which are a fundamental part of the cultural life of Benalmádena and will again play a very important role in this programme.”
