The Ramón Rico municipal pool hosts the 39th edition of the Local Swimming Championship this Friday, featuring both federated and non-federated categories. Between 100 and 150 swimmers from across the province are expected.
The municipal pool at the Ramón Rico Sports Centre in Benalmádena Pueblo will host the 39th edition of the Local Swimming Championship this Friday, August 7, one of the most traditional events of the summer sports calendar in the municipality. Organised by the Sports Department of the Town Hall, the event is part of the Virgen de la Cruz Fair activities and will bring together swimmers of all ages.
The competition will take place between 17:00 and 20:00 hours and will feature two main categories: federated and non-federated or swimming course participants. There will be events for the Prebenjamín, Benjamín, Alevín, Infantil, Juvenil, and Sénior categories, as well as for those with functional diversity. The organisation anticipates participation from between 100 and 150 swimmers from across the province, with around 350 entries spread across more than 50 heats.
Registration is free and can be done in advance through Dorsalchip or on the day of the event at the pool, between 16:00 and 16:30 hours, provided there are available spots. The Councillor for Sports, Alejandro Carretero, highlighted that 'this championship is one of the most traditional competitions of the summer in Benalmádena and a fantastic opportunity for athletes of all ages to enjoy a day of camaraderie, effort, and achievement in an unbeatable setting.'
The councillor encouraged residents and visitors to attend this sporting event and emphasised that 'the Town Hall continues to promote sports practice and to establish a calendar of activities that combines participation, the promotion of healthy habits, and the dynamisation of our festivities.' He also thanked the technical staff and judges whose efforts will make the competition possible, which will conclude with the awarding of medals.
The event, which will start at 17:00 hours, is open to the public, who can watch the heats from the stands of the facility. With this event, Benalmádena strengthens its summer sports calendar, which combines citizen participation with the promotion of healthy habits during the fair season.
