The National Police located the body of an 80-year-old woman who went missing on Friday in Aranda de Duero this Saturday. The body was found on a path on the Sinovas road with no signs of violence.
The woman, around 80 years old, was last seen on Friday, July 17, at around 10:00 AM in the Plaza de Santiago in Aranda de Duero, dressed in fuchsia and carrying a supermarket bag. Her disappearance triggered a search operation coordinated by the National Police and Civil Protection.
Discovery without apparent violence
The lifeless body was located on Saturday morning on a path on the Sinovas road, according to sources from the National Police. These same sources have stated that, although the investigation is still open, no signs of violence have been found on the body.
The octogenarian lived in the Burgos town, where she was known by the locals. Her disappearance had generated great concern, especially due to her age and the high temperatures in recent days.
Ongoing investigation
National Police agents continue to investigate the circumstances of the death. The involvement of third parties has been ruled out for the moment, although the results of the autopsy are awaited to determine the exact causes of death.
Civil Protection of Aranda de Duero had requested public assistance to locate the woman, disseminating her description and the clothing she was wearing. The news has shocked the locals, who hoped to find her alive.
This incident adds to other cases of disappearances of elderly people in the province of Burgos, where the rapid action of emergency services is key. So far this year, several similar alerts have been recorded, although most have had a positive outcome.
The Aranda de Duero City Council has expressed its condolences to the family and thanked the work of the security forces. More details about what happened are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
The investigation continues to clarify the facts and determine if any external factors caused the death. For now, everything points to a death from natural causes, although no hypothesis is being ruled out.
