In the morning of today, July 15, 2026, a meeting of the Government Council of the Junta of Andalucía took place at the Palacio de San Telmo, Málaga. During this meeting, several significant measures were approved, including the order for the preparation of the Junta's budget for the year 2027 and several appointments of senior officials.

Approval of the budget for 2027

The Junta has activated the preparation of the budget for 2027, the first of the XIII Legislature. This budget is considered essential to continue economic growth and consolidate the financial stability of the region.

The order, signed by the third vice president and councillor of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, establishes the guidelines and procedures to be followed by all councils and agencies for the preparation of their respective budget drafts. This step aims to maintain certainty and address needs in areas such as health, education, and social services.

Despite the uncertain international context affecting the economy, the Junta of Andalucía reports a robust performance of its economy, evidenced by improvements in the labour market. The Council has highlighted the importance of initiating the budget drafting process, in response to the lack of initiative from the Government of Spain to present general budgets at the national level.

Appointments in the Government Council

The Government Council also approved a total of twenty appointments of senior officials in twelve councils. Among the new appointments are nine deputy councillors and ten technical general secretaries.

The councils affected by these changes include Tourism, Justice, Economy, Education, Social Services, Housing, Culture, Sustainability, Development, and Artificial Intelligence, among others. These appointments are part of the new organisation of the councils, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Junta dated July 9, 2026.

The new officials have been chosen for their backgrounds and training, and are expected to contribute effectively to the objectives of the Andalusian Government in this legislature.
