Málaga City Council has tendered the works for the renewal of the artificial turf of the Roma Luz-Guadaljaire football field, in the Carretera de Cádiz district, with a budget of €572,962.91 and an execution period of four months.
The Roma Luz-Guadaljaire football field, in the Carretera de Cádiz district, will debut state-of-the-art artificial turf before the year ends. Málaga City Council has initiated the tendering process for the works, which also include the renewal of the drainage system and the adjustment of the playing field dimensions.
The base budget amounts to €572,962.91 and interested companies have until August 5 to submit their bids. The works, once awarded, will last for four months, meaning the installation could be operational by the end of 2026.
A more modern and safer pitch
The action responds to the fact that the current surface has reached the end of its useful life. A new synthetic grass mat will be installed, weighted with silica sand and cork, a material that enhances playing comfort and reduces the risk of injuries. Additionally, the perimeter drainage channels will be reviewed to ensure proper drainage.
The field will adapt its dimensions to 99 meters long by 58.50 meters wide, plus lateral bands of 2.20 meters and ends of 3.10 meters, resulting in a total area of 105.20 by 62.90 meters. The protective nets will also be replaced, and painting, locksmithing, and masonry work will be carried out.
An investment for grassroots sports
The Roma Luz-Guadaljaire field is one of the most used municipal sports facilities by local football clubs and schools. The renovation will ensure that young athletes in the Carretera de Cádiz district can train and compete in optimal conditions for the coming years.
The Sports Councillor, Borja Vivas, has highlighted that this investment "responds to the government team's commitment to improving the city's sports infrastructure." The works add to similar actions in fields such as the Ciudad Deportiva de Carranque or the Tiro de Pichón sports centre.
"We want the people of Málaga to have the best facilities for sports practice, and this renovation is another step in that direction," Vivas stated.
The deadline for submitting bids ends on August 5, and it is expected that the works will begin in September, once the summer period is over. Local residents will be able to enjoy a renovated pitch before the year ends.
