The town of Torremolinos was the scene of an intervention by the National Police Unit Attached to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. The operation took place in a hospitality establishment where illegal bingo games were being held.
Officers from the Gaming and Public Shows Area of the Provincial Headquarters of Málaga discovered that the games were held every Sunday. Customers received bingo cards upon making a purchase, allowing them to participate for prizes of various amounts, including trips.
Details of the intervention
A device was set up around the establishment that allowed the police to verify the gaming activity. Inside, more than 40 people were participating in the bingo sessions, using a television screen to follow the numbers drawn.
Customers could play through an online application, accessing it via a QR code from their mobile phones, or using traditional bingo cards. This illegal practice attracted numerous customers and generated significant economic benefits, negatively impacting the legally operating establishments in the area.
Police actions
In light of this situation, the UPA prepared a report and a proposal for sanctions, as well as intervening all items necessary for the games. This report was sent to the Public Gaming and Shows Service of the Junta de Andalucía in Málaga.
The action aims to contribute to the eradication of illegal gaming and protect businesses that comply with established regulations.
