Terelu Campos was astonished to see images of her mother, María Teresa Campos's, penthouse in Málaga on 'De lunes a viernes', listed for sale at 1.5 million euros without her knowledge.
The television collaborator Terelu Campos experienced a moment of great tension this Tuesday in the studio of 'De lunes a viernes', upon discovering live that her mother, the late journalist María Teresa Campos's penthouse, located in the capital of Málaga, appeared on a real estate portal with a starting price of 1.5 million euros. The property, a 180 square metre home facing the sea, had been photographed and published without her, as a co-owner, being aware of it.
A surprise live on air
Upon seeing the images of the various rooms of the penthouse on the Telecinco programme's screen, Terelu Campos could not hide her astonishment. She confirmed that it was her mother's house but stated that she was unaware it was listed on any portal. “Who could have put this up? I am seeing this live at this very moment,” she declared, visibly affected.
The journalist explained that she had discussed the matter with her sister, Carmen Borrego, and that they had not yet made any decisions regarding the future of the property. “(Carmen) is telling me that those images are from the listing. I don’t know how they could have them. I am worried that someone has them without me knowing,” she admitted to her programme colleagues.
When asked by collaborator Ángela Portero if her sister could have done it, Terelu replied emphatically: “Behind my back? No way! No way!”, making it clear that she fully trusts Carmen. According to the information provided on the programme, the listing had been up for “more than a week” and was removed at noon that same day.
Terelu's reaction: “I am not going to confirm anything”
The photographs of the property, taken from the inside, are no longer available on the website. However, Terelu Campos wanted to make it clear on the programme that “I have never spoken to any real estate agency about this”, as despite the discussions with her sister, they have not yet made a firm decision about what to do with their mother's house.
When host Beatriz Archidona directly asked her if she could confirm that the house was not for sale, Terelu stood firm: “I am not going to confirm anything, nothing at all, because these are private conversations between my sister and me. And much more so when no decision has been made about anything. So I am not going to talk about anything that is part of a sisterly conversation, about the future, about saying ‘well, maybe it would be good’.”
The collaborator insisted that “there is no firm decision and I have not spoken to any real estate agency about this. And you should have no doubt about that.” For her part, Rosa Benito provided some context by suggesting that perhaps the conversation between the sisters had been private and that they were within their rights to sell the house if they deemed it necessary, as keeping a property closed all year incurs high costs.
The co-owner's concern
What worries Terelu Campos the most is the fact that, as a co-owner of the property, she was unaware that those photographs had been taken or that they had been authorised for publication on a real estate portal. “That is what worries me: that I, as a co-owner of that house, do not know that those photos have been taken and that they have been authorised to be put on a real estate portal,” she concluded.
This episode has reopened the debate about the management of the well-known Campos family's assets. María Teresa Campos's penthouse, located in one of the most exclusive areas of the capital of Málaga, is a property of high sentimental and economic value. The situation, which has become public through television, has surprised both the family and the viewers, who witnessed a moment of great tension live.
For now, the Campos sisters have not made a decision regarding the future of the property, but what has happened highlights the need for clear communication between the co-owners and for establishing the appropriate channels for any real estate management affecting the property.
