The Málaga City Council has presented the services for the August Fair, which includes a tent for seniors, free rental of chairs and scooters, 25 defibrillators, and safe spaces.
The Málaga Fair 2026, which will take place from August 15 to 22, will enhance services aimed at seniors, accessibility, and safety. The City Council presented the activity programme at the municipal tent 'El Rengue' on Friday, along with support services for people with reduced mobility, the network of defibrillators, and safe spaces both in the Real de Cortijo de Torres and in the Historic Centre.
The 'El Rengue' tent, located on Antonio Rodríguez Street in the fairgrounds, will host over 5,000 seniors throughout the week. The programme includes dinner, dancing with an orchestra, a tribute to the two oldest people each night, and the election of the king and queen of the evening. The activities are sponsored by the companies awarded the home help service (Atende, BCM, Ingesan, and Claros) and Grupo Raga.
Invitations are distributed through the districts among associations and senior centres, neighbourhood entities, social groups, and individuals receiving home help services. Transportation to the venue will be provided by buses, with the collaboration of municipal districts, the Local Police, and Civil Protection to ensure safe travel.
The schedule will begin on Saturday the 15th with seniors from the Bailén-Miraflores district and continue on Sunday the 16th with Carretera de Cádiz. Monday the 17th will be for Puerto de la Torre and Churriana; Tuesday the 18th for the Eastern district; Wednesday the 19th for Ciudad Jardín and Campanillas; Thursday the 20th for Palma-Palmilla and Teatinos; Friday the 21st for the Centre; and Saturday the 22nd for Cruz del Humilladero. On that last day, the king and queen of 'El Rengue' of the Málaga Fair 2026 will also be elected from the winners of each district.
In terms of accessibility, the Fair's Real will once again feature a mobile point for free rental of orthopaedic equipment, located at the main entrance of the venue, on Avenida de las Malagueñas. The service will operate between 20:00 and 2:00 hours from August 15 to 22.
The service will include 16 scooters, four manual wheelchairs, two walkers, and six crutches of various sizes. There will also be staff responsible for coordinating rentals, addressing logistical needs, advising the public, and maintaining the equipment in good condition.
The Málaga Fair will also reinforce its status as a heart-safe space with the installation of 25 defibrillators at various points in the Real de Cortijo de Torres. The devices will be strategically placed in certain tents, behind the bar, and will be available in case of potential cardiac arrest. They will be supplemented by equipment carried by Civil Protection, the Local Police, and health services.
The defibrillators will be provided to the Málaga Federation of Peñas, Cultural Centres, and Regional Houses 'La Alcazaba' for distribution among the tents. Additionally, members of Expaumi will conduct a workshop for representatives of the groups present in the Real to facilitate the use of the equipment in case of emergency.
These devices are part of the 'Málaga Cardioprotegida' initiative, promoted by the City Council and the Association of Former Patients of the Intensive Care Unit in 2016. The city currently has 742 registered devices in public and private open spaces, whose locations can be consulted on the municipal defibrillator map.
The City Council will maintain the campaign 'Málaga, free of gender violence' during the Fair, active throughout the year, aimed at preventing assaults and raising public awareness. All tents will be declared spaces free of gender violence and must display official signage both inside and outside. The campaign will also extend to establishments in the Historic Centre.
The services will include purple points for information, awareness, and prevention. In the Real, there will be a fixed unit in the Youth Esplanade, on Avenida José Ortega y Gasset, from August 15 to 22 between 21:00 and 2:00 hours, in addition to a mobile unit. In the Centre, another purple point will be set up on Alameda Principal, near Calle Marqués de Larios, from 14:00 to 18:00 hours.
The Equality area will develop this action together with the ACP association, in coordination with security forces. Furthermore, the City Council is working with the Official College of Physicians of Málaga on a pilot project to prevent chemical submission situations in leisure contexts during the Fair.
In cases of gender violence or sexual crimes, the National Police protocol will be activated through 091, with specialized intervention from the Family and Women’s Attention Unit and coordination with the Local Police when necessary. The City Council will keep the Urgent Legal Attention Service for Women operational, available 24 hours a day through the numbers 010 and 679 661 800.
Residents of the province attending the Fair will be able to benefit from these services. The rental of orthopaedic equipment is free and does not require prior reservation, although it is recommended to visit the designated point on Avenida de las Malagueñas. The purple points offer information and support in case of any incident.
The Málaga Fair 2026 promises to be an especially inclusive edition, with a service designed to ensure that all citizens, regardless of age or condition, can enjoy the festivities safely and comfortably.
