The town of Árchez, in Málaga, is in a state of alarm following the declaration of an emergency phase in the Infoca Plan, under operational situation 1. This measure was taken at 14:52 on Friday by the Minister of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, due to the serious progression of the forest fire.
The emergency device has evacuated, as a precaution, scattered housing areas near the flames and confinement has been declared for the town of Cómpeta. Through a statement, residents and visitors are urged to avoid proximity to the affected areas and to follow the recommendations of emergency services.
Safety measures and affected traffic
The A-7206 road, which connects Cómpeta with the N-340, remains closed in both directions from kilometre 0 to 3. This measure aims to ensure the safety of the operatives working to extinguish the fire and to minimise risks.
Authorities have recommended closing doors and windows if smoke affects homes and to stay indoors unless otherwise instructed. Special attention is being paid to protecting children, the elderly, and vulnerable individuals.
The emergency service 1-1-2 has received over thirty calls since the fire was detected, which began in a steep grass area near the local recycling point at 12:40. In response, the Provincial Operational Centre of Infoca was activated, along with firefighters, the Civil Guard, Local Police, and the National Police Attached Unit.
Deployment in the affected area
The Andalusian Emergency Agency has also mobilised the Andalusian Emergency Group (GREA), which will establish an Advanced Command Post (PMA) to coordinate firefighting actions. Currently, around ten aerial resources from the Infoca Plan and 80 ground personnel are involved, along with support vehicles and a medical team.
The municipalities of Árchez and Canillas de Albaida have activated their respective Local Territorial Emergency Plans (PTEL) to address the situation.
The emergency phase, operational situation 1, is activated in fires that, while they can be controlled with ordinary resources, require additional deployment due to the fire's dimensions and the necessary measures to protect the population. The Andalusian Emergency Agency calls for caution and to follow the instructions of emergency services, prioritising the safety of all citizens.
