ARCHIDONA, 17 JULY 2026

The Junta of Andalusia has initiated the tendering of works for the new judicial headquarters in Archidona. This announcement was made by the territorial delegate for Justice, Local Administration and Public Function, Teresa Pardo, during her visit to the old Nororma building, which will be the future home of these facilities.

New headquarters to improve judicial service

During the tour, Pardo was accompanied by the mayor of Archidona, Manuel Almohalla. During the visit, she highlighted that the new tender specifications will include technical modifications to meet safety standards, following the recommendations of the Civil Guard captain in charge of judicial headquarters.

The old building, which has three floors and 1,228 square metres, will allow for the doubling of the space currently offered by the existing facilities, which only have 600 square metres.

A project in collaboration with the Archidona Town Hall

The renovation project for the Nororma building responds to an agreement between the Junta of Andalusia and the local Town Hall, which includes the exchange of the current judicial headquarters for the old school. This new location is designed to meet the current and future needs of the judicial district, which covers seven municipalities and has significant activity due to the proximity of a prison.

The new building, which currently houses the CADE (Business Development Support Centre), is located on Santo Domingo street. Its accessibility and layout will allow for a more modern and humanised justice service. Among the improvements, waiting areas and separate routes for victims and defendants are expected to be included.

The Archidona court is essential for serving a population of 27,200 residents from towns such as Cuevas Bajas, Cuevas de San Marcos, Villanueva de Algaidas, Villanueva del Trabuco, Villanueva de Tapia, Villanueva del Rosario and Archidona. Given the current workload, partly caused by the presence of the prison in the locality, the increase in space is a necessary measure to prevent the new headquarters from becoming inadequate in the future.
