In the case of coordinations and general directions, the Organic Regulation of Government and Administration of the City Council establishes that their appointment corresponds to the Local Government Board, at the proposal of the Mayor's Office. This measure aims to streamline selection processes and adjust the workforce to the actual needs of the service.
For candidates for chief, the selection process will be demanding. The bases will include knowledge tests, physical tests, psychotechnical tests, and professional aptitude tests. Candidates must have a university degree, generally at the bachelor's or licentiate level, and meet the age and nationality requirements established for access to local public service.
The Málaga City Council has highlighted that these positions strengthen the command structure of the Local Police, a force that in recent years has seen an increase in its competencies in matters of citizen security, traffic, and coexistence.
