Campillos hosts this weekend the IX Charity Event against Cancer 'Never Give Up', a sports event that this year exceeds 1,300 confirmed participants, according to Diario Sur. The event, organised by the Campillos Association against Cancer, will feature mountain bike, gravel, e-bike, cross trail, and hiking categories.
The mountain bike, gravel, and e-bike events will have a course of 55 kilometres and a positive elevation gain of about 800 metres. The cross trail will be 17 kilometres long with 450 metres of elevation gain. In hiking, there will be two distances: one of 13.5 kilometres of medium difficulty and another of 7 kilometres of low difficulty.
The start and finish will be located at the José María Hinojosa Park in Campillos. Additionally, on Saturday 19 September in the afternoon, an indoor cycling session will be held at the town hall esplanade with a maximum of 40 spots.
“For the Town Hall, it is an honour and a pleasure to collaborate with this event, which combines sport and a very important social cause for our town. It is doubly rewarding to be part of the Charity Event 'Never Give Up', which is becoming a reference at the provincial and regional level”
This was stated by the mayor of Campillos, Daniel Gómez, who thanked the work of the Campillos Association against Cancer and the working group that organises the race.
Also participating in the organisation are the Athletics Club Campillos, the Cycling Club Racormance, and the group Paths without Borders. More than 200 companies and businesses sponsor and directly collaborate with the event.
All proceeds will benefit the Campillos Association against Cancer. The entity has set up a 'Zero Bib' for donations at the account ES12 2103 0198 4600 3000 5059.
