María Gallardo and Víctor Prados, from Campillos and Teba, have been recognised among the eight best high school records in the province of Málaga, with an average grade of 10 and Honours.
The Diputación de Málaga has distinguished two young people from the Guadalteba region among the best students in the province. María Gallardo, from Campillos, and Víctor Prados, from Teba, received the Academic Excellence award at the second edition of the gala held at the Edgar Neville auditorium in the capital.
Both students completed their high school studies during the 2025-2026 academic year and achieved an average grade of 10, accompanied by Honours. This recognition is awarded to only eight students from across the province, placing these two municipalities in the interior of Málaga on the map of educational excellence.
A prize that opens borders
As a reward for their effort, María and Víctor will enjoy a language immersion trip abroad, an experience that will allow them to improve their language skills while getting to know another culture. Additionally, they will receive an institutional plaque, a diploma, and a set of tickets for cultural, sports, and leisure activities in the province.
The event, which took place last Friday, was attended by the Vice President of the Diputación, Antonia Ledesma, who emphasised the “effort and perseverance” of the awardees, as well as the support from their families and teachers. For his part, the Education Councillor, José Santaolalla, highlighted the growth of this initiative, which in its second edition has expanded the number of recognitions.
148 students from small municipalities
In total, the Diputación recognised 148 students from Málaga municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. The awards were distributed in three categories according to the grades obtained in Secondary Education, High School, and Vocational Training. In this way, the provincial institution seeks to promote talent in rural areas and give visibility to the academic efforts of young people.
The ceremony also included performances by Málaga singer Idaira Siles and the Antequera illusionist Luis Olmedo, world champion of micromagic, who entertained the evening with their acts.
For the residents of Campillos and Teba, this recognition is a source of pride. Both municipalities, located in the Guadalteba region, see their young people shining at the provincial level. The news has been received with joy in the local high schools, where teachers and classmates celebrate María and Víctor's achievement.
The Diputación is already working on organising the third edition of these awards, with the aim of continuing to promote academic excellence in the towns of the province. In the meantime, the two students are preparing to enjoy their language trip, an opportunity that will undoubtedly mark a turning point in their education.
