Diego Solano, Justice of the Peace of Alhaurín el Grande, passes away at 69

The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall has declared two days of official mourning for the sudden passing of Diego Solano López, Justice of the Peace of the municipality since 2011. A minute of silence will be held on Monday, August 10.

The Málaga municipality of Alhaurín el Grande bids farewell to Diego Solano López, Justice of the Peace of the locality, who passed away yesterday at the age of 69. His sudden death has caused deep dismay among the residents and the Municipal Corporation, which loses a beloved person closely tied to public service.

Solano held the position of substitute Justice of the Peace since November 2008 and became the titular judge in July 2011, accumulating around fifteen years of dedication at the helm of the Peace Court. During this time, he carried out administrative and judicial functions and participated in key moments for the families of the town, such as civil weddings or registrations of births, marriages, and deaths.

The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, has declared two days of official mourning, which will be observed on Thursday, August 6, and Friday, August 7, 2026. During these days, flags at municipal buildings will fly at half-mast in a sign of respect and mourning.

Additionally, next Monday, August 10, a minute of silence will be held at the Peace Court, on Esperanza Street. The event will allow workers, residents, and members of the Corporation to publicly express their condolences and pay a final tribute to Solano.

The Town Hall has conveyed its affection to the wife, children, and loved ones of the deceased, highlighting his close approach and commitment to the municipality. His presence was common at institutional events and local commemorations, where he always showed a friendly demeanor and a great willingness to engage in dialogue.

With this loss, Alhaurín el Grande loses a person who dedicated his life to serving others, and whose memory will remain linked to the recent history of the town. The Town Hall invites residents to join the minute of silence on Monday as a sign of respect.
