The mayor, José Alberto Armijo, on behalf of the entire Municipal Corporation, has conveyed his condolences to the councillor's wife and children, as well as to his siblings, family, and friends. The mayor expressed his "affection, solidarity, and support during this time of deep sorrow".
"I want to publicly acknowledge and thank Daniel Rivas Maldonado for his years of dedication and public service, highlighting his commitment to Nerja and its residents," the mayor stated.
Rivas Maldonado was responsible for various municipal delegations during the corporate periods from 2019 to 2023 and from 2023 to 2026.
To formalise the official mourning as a sign of grief, respect, and recognition of his memory, Armijo has called for a meeting tomorrow with the spokespersons of the municipal groups of Partido Popular, PSOE, and Podemos-Izquierda Unida.
